The Marker Alpinist 12 is an impressive touring binding. For a mere 335 grams you get a pin-binding with brake, DIN adjustment in the heel piece and even elastic travel in the heel piece! The latter means that the heel piece can move back and forth when a ski boot is inserted: this guarantees the safe functioning of the binding and it also benefits the flex of the ski. The Alpinist has 15 mm available to adjust the binding to your (new) boot size and has 2 risers (3 positions total). The width of both toe and heel piece is 38 mm, which guarantees good power transfer even on wider skis. The toe piece is carbon reinforced and rubber 'boot stoppers' facilitate entry: if you place the shoe against the stoppers, you are exactly in position to close the toe piece.
N.B.: binding is delivered without brake, weighing 245 gr. Also available as Alpinist 9 with DIN 4-9.
Marker says about the Alpinist 12
The ultra-light pin binding (245 g w/o brake) offers active length compensation during ski flex and an impressive power transfer downhill due to a 38 mm drill pattern. The carbon-reinforced toe provides great stiffness and comes with anti-ice pads and integrated elastomers for easy stepping in. The heel features a climbing aid with 0g, 5g and 9g angle and allows super convenient switching between hike and ride mode.
