The Deuter Ascender 13 is a 13-liter hydration backpack designed for carrying a water bladder and essential gear on the move. Its streamlined shape makes it well suited for trail runs, day hikes or any outdoor activity where quick access to water matters.
Weighing just 340 grams, the Ascender 13 falls into the ultralight category, so it stays out of your way as you rack up the miles. The main compartment holds between 1 and 3 kilograms of kit—enough space for your bladder, a spare layer and snacks without turning the pack into dead weight.
The PFC-free fabric treatment means Deuter has avoided perfluorinated chemicals—compounds once common in durable water repellents that can persist in the environment. This approach still provides wear resistance and basic moisture shedding while reducing the long-term ecological footprint.

Deuter says about the Ascender 13
Ultra-lightweight and super comfortable: wide, ergonomic vest-style shoulder straps with elasticated compression system, two adjustable sternum straps and soft material against the back create a garment-like fit. A stretch mesh inner pocket and side compression straps help eliminate load wobble no matter how challenging the terrain. A holster pocket on the front of one shoulder strap makes it quick and easy to access collapsible trekking poles. And there is space for soft flasks and a GPS in the shoulder strap pockets. The body fabric is made from 100% recycled materials and is bluesign(R) certified.
